Shelekhov district hospital

Shelekhov, Irkutsk Oblast, Russia · October 2, 2026

The technician was treated here from September 29 and died overnight from October 1 to October 2. The hospital was placed under quarantine, and more than 100 contacts were isolated in its wards.

Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute

Local outlets reported that a laboratory accident happened here on September 25, which Russian authorities deny. RFE/RL reported, citing employees and relatives, that more than 60 staff have been isolated inside the institute since October 2. Officials have not confirmed this.
